Coming from a diverse Brazilian background and as a Miami native who grew up in a primarily Spanish speaking community, Doral, FL, Bruna is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Bruna’s quick adaptability goes hand-in-hand with her go-getter personality and her dedicated work ethic. Bruna received her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising and Applied Communications from Florida International University, in Miami, FL.
After graduating, Bruna joined HCA Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the country, as the Public Relations and Communications Coordinator at Kendall Regional Medical Center in 2018. In this role, she merged her strong digital media knowledge and skills with the health care industry through social media, email marketing, video production, and graphic design. She used the innovative form of digital storytelling to promote Kendall Regional and two free standing emergency departments, while focusing on improving the reputations of all three locations. During her time as a coordinator, Bruna showcased an understanding of creative problem solving and quick adaptability to ever evolving situations, which landed her a job as the Director of Public Relations and Communications at Westside Regional Medical Center, a sister-facility of HCA Healthcare and their largest hospital in Broward County.
Since becoming the director at Westside Regional in February 2020 (yes, right at the start of a global pandemic), Bruna has elevated the hospital’s digital, social media and video content presence with an understanding for building patient testimonials and online content. She has also contributed to positive earned media coverage both locally and nationally, having showcased her facility on Good Morning America and CNN during their response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bruna is responsible for driving long-term facility growth for the 250-bed hospital and its free-standing emergency room. She manages service line strategy, branding, website content and overall hospital reputation via media relations, community outreach, special events, digital strategy, and hospital spokesperson duties. Bruna’s customer service expertise and attention to detail contributes to her desire to produce high quality work.
Prior to joining the niche industry of healthcare, Bruna served as an Account Coordinator at a public relations agency in Miami, Beach, while simultaneously working as a freelance social media and digital marketing specialist.
Understanding the importance of furthering her education and having the ambition to venture into the business administration and marketing fields, Bruna chose to advance her career by pursuing a Master’s of Science in Marketing degree from Florida International University’s School of Business. Currently in the program, Bruna has deepened her understanding on how to connect with consumers and humanize a brand via brand management, consumer behavior and omnichannel marketing courses. Through classes such as e-marketing, social media marketing and digital marketing strategies, Bruna has enhanced her knowledge on how the digital revolution has impacted both the strategies and tactics of marketing as a whole. Not only has this strengthened her adaptability as a professional marketer, but it has also taught her how to develop your strategies towards a more long-term approach. In an effort to further strengthen her skillset, Bruna has acquired Google Ads Display, Search and Video certifications, as well as HubSpot Email Marketing and Content Marketing certifications.
Whether it’s to select the most appropriate target audience or to determine the best online ad to drive conversion, businesses rely on marketing research and analytics to collect the necessary information and then, of course, analyze it. Bruna’s master’s program dives deep into such elements of marketing with both marketing research and analytics courses, as well as the completion of a Google Analytics Individual Qualification. In addition, other courses in the program, such as marketing management in a global environment and integrated marketing communications, have given Bruna a more holistic analysis of what it means to be a professional marketer. She has also demonstrated her gained expertise via a weekly blog post on her blog, The Marketing Clinic.
Bruna aims to continuously increase her versatility as a strong marketing leader, via digital marketing, brand development and marketing analytics. Bruna’s favorite part about doing public relations for healthcare is sharing the personal stories of patients and hospital staff that directly impact lives. Whether it’s service line promotion, events, writing, or anything digital-related, getting the chance to market a service as important and significant as health care is what inspires and motivates her every day.
